Background

I've always been quite obsessed with doing lists.  I love doing them.  I love ticking things off and the satisfaction of seeing one completely finished.

After reading Mike Gayle's "The To-Do List" I felt my old love for lists rekindle.  While mine isn't as long as Mike's, which was 1277 items long, I think it's still going to be pretty challenging to complete within a year around my work and other stuff.

Some of the items in the list can be done in a day, but some will take a long time.  For example, I can buy a diary in a day, but training and completing my marathon is going to take a long time.  As is losing weight.  The books I've got to read through will vary.  It's going to be interesting.

There are some rules for considering this one year project a success.  I need to achieve a 97% hit rate or above to successfully "pass", as it were.  Anything below will be deemed as "failure".  You can check out my to-do list on it's own page and I'll check of items as I do them so you can check it for yourself, if you're bothered.  Whenever possible, I'll provide photographic proof of my efforts, but for some things, you're just going to have to take my word for it!  You can also follow my progress on Twitter (@the2011todolist), but this is a protected account so leave a message you're a blog reader, if I don't already know who you are.

On a more serious note, I want to make something of myself.  2011 is set to be a big year for me and Will, with a lot of potential changes that are pretty massive.  I don't want to look back on the 31st of December 2011 and think "That's another year wasted".  I want to look back and say "Hey, this year's had it's ups and downs, but there's no way people can say I didn't do stuff!"

So, on that thought, let's go do stuff.
